Reading This Will Make You Think About Our Planet, United

United

Before you get to the good stuff, I want to take a second to let you know that my book, “Mindset of a Champion” has been officially released. I’m a little biased (and why wouldn’t I be?) but you need to pick up a copy. Not only will it change the way you view life, but it gives you actionable steps to do it.

FYI…

Every Friday I try to bring in someone to guest post on the site.

I firmly believe in giving back and helping others and this is a way that I can do that. This week, it just so happens that the guest post has been done by none other than my brother and business partner on my other website, Jeff Scott.

The article below is one of, if not the most, beautiful article he has ever written. It brilliantly showcases what how the world can become united once again.

Truth be told, it is up on our comic website and can be found here. I was so moved by it, that I quickly realized that it needed to appear on more than one website.

I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do.

If you want to guest post, or are looking for a way to get your word out to the world, reach out to me at info@joelascott.com and I’ll help you out.

Cheers to your success,

Joel

Sometimes, the best way to find inspiration is by just sitting back and waiting. You’ve seen it before. Last time, it happened while I was sitting in my pajama’s and this article came out: Mount Rushmore For Comics. Well, it happened again. I was listening to the radio when the Garth Brooks song, “We Shall Be Free” started to play. It was in that moment I found myself suddenly inspired.

Inspiration

In the end, does it really matter the color of a person’s skin, their race or sexuality? You will live and you will die and at the end of the day, it really doesn’t, does it?

In today’s world, there is so much hate and violence towards each other. And all for what? Belief and faith? Let me ask you, why does it matter the color of their skin or their gender? I am a firm believer that we are all humans. Skin tone, sex, age, sexuality, and every other thing that divides us, is total bullshit. You and I bleed the same blood as I do and your heart works just like mine.

Hard life

What would happen if the world put down its guns and clenched fists and a friendly handshake, or even better, a hug was the way in which we greeted each other?

I get it. You come from a different background. You had a hard life.

So did I.

Years ago, I made the conscious decision to learn to “walk a mile in another’s shoes” before I judge that person and it has served me pretty well. I suggest you do it too. You might be surprised that a person you look down on, might just be the “brother” or “sister” that you have been looking for.

The greatest gift that humanity has been given is the ability to unite.

Playground

Go to a school playground. What do you see?

I’ll tell you what I see.

Children playing with one another. There isn’t an unwritten rule that children from different backgrounds can’t play together. Children don’t look at other children with hate, fear, or anger. No, they look at each other with love and there is only respect for one another.

Personally, I think we could learn a thing or two from children. The only time playground play becomes escalated is when the parents get involved. As far as this man is concerned this is when and where children learn to hate, fear, and anger. Not from one another. From those that are supposed to guide them.

Maybe, just maybe, you should look at yourself in the mirror and re-teach yourself the lessons you learned when you were young.

Imagine what would happen if you did?

If everybody did?

My advice? Never close a door when there is a chance to see the beauty that another can bring into your life.

United we stand

In the comic realm, the heroes (and villains to a degree) are extremely accepting that they are all on the same team. They do not judge or leave anyone behind because of who they are. The build a united foundation so that they can better serve others. If you can learn anything from comics, or this article for that matter, heroes have an undying ability to come together and fight against hate, fear, and anger no matter what. They understand that coming together as one means everyone achieves more.

The tagline to Captain America: Civil War was “United we stand but divided we fall”. What happened?

Divided they fell.

I realize that comics and movies aren’t they reality that you live. But, and this is a big but, the stories are closer to reality than you know.

Comics unite us and this is no more apparent than it is while watching any of the latest movies on the big screen. People from all backgrounds gather and talk to one another before the movie starts. No hate. No fear. No anger.

Humanity prevails and does so because for a moment you forget who you are and who they are.

It is my hope and dream that society can one day become a united superhero team with the purpose of making this world a better place.

Till next time,

Jeff

Great post Jeff. The interesting thing is children accept you regardless of your race, color, or sexuality– until they’re are taught otherwise… Hate and racism is such an ugly disease. Thanks for this awesome post!
