-44 degrees Celsius, that’s what my city deals with in the winter. All isn’t as it seems. A usual winter only has temperatures like that for a few weeks. It doesn’t make it any easier.
This past week, temperatures like this blasted the city. Thoughts like relentless, brutal, and seemingly never-ending begin to fill my normally positive mind.
It makes a strong case for why it has long been considered one of the coldest places in the world.
Along with that title, it is known for having some of the nicest people on the planet. Case in point, I stupidly braved the temperatures a few nights ago to meet someone that I had never met before.
Can’t exactly explain why I felt I should meet this guy but my gut said, “Go!” It helped that he asked me if we are still on 2 hours prior. I knew that he meant business the moment that message came in.
Have you ever met someone who you are instantly fascinated by? The story, the life, the words, and the transformation…
You and everyone around you all walk the same road in life. There is a start and there is an end. The only difference between you and the person next to you is that they might take a left when you go right.
It will serve you well to seek out those who you don’t know and listen to their story. It doesn’t differ too much from your own.
While you are talking begin to brainstorm how you can help them. Maybe you can introduce them to someone, offer them advice, or just listen to their story. It doesn’t matter how, just find a way. These simple acts will prove invaluable in your life.
I’ll admit that up until a few years ago, I despised new experiences. I found my happy place and didn’t have a desire to leave it. One day I realized that in order to grow and become more than I am, I need to experience life for what it is and not what I designed it to be.
I encourage you to do the same. If your day consists of waking up, working, going home, watching television, and going to bed, know that there is more to life than this.

Like meeting new people, new experiences open up a world that you didn’t know existed. There is more to life that what you currently know.
This is not the same as New Experiences.
New adventures are doing things you are too afraid to do. They mean do the things that you always come up with an excuse as to why you can’t do. Above that and most importantly, start checking off your regret list. As you lay in your bed dying, you will not be thinking about the things you accomplished. Nobody does. Your life will end and all that will be on your mind are the things you didn’t do.
Swallow that thought.
I always listen to Podcasts while driving. On one particular drive, I tuned into one with a couple of my favorites (Deepak Chopra and Tony Robbins). If you listen to them, you know how intoxicating the material is. The two discussed topic after topic but when they started to talk about the human body as the perfect pharmacy, my ears perked up.
Chopra explained that the body has exactly what it needs to fight disease. It will keep you healthy, happy, and long-lived if you give it a chance to do what it’s designed to do. To do this you must exercise, eat right, and take some quiet time to yourself. Meditate, read, or whatever you need to do to unwind. Just shut off from the world around you.
When at a relaxed, stress-free mental state, your body responds by sending out chemicals that boost your immune system.
In a world where stresses are at an all-time high, there is concern over everything from war to food, and you are expected to work harder than ever before, it is imperative that you make finding inner peace a priority.
I don’t need to harp at you the value of trying new things. However, if you aren’t doing it, you are only robbing yourself of a great life.
