Saturday Morning Recap
June 11 – 17, 2017
Things I’m reading
I’m nearing completion of Becoming Steve Jobs: The Evolution of a Reckless Upstart into a Visionary Leader. I had planned to have it finished earlier this week but a few unexpected things came up. Needless to say, I’ll have it done by the end of tomorrow. While the writing is great and the theme is amazing (leadership) the book tends to follow the outline by the countless other biographies about Steve Jobs.
And that’s ok. Repetition leads to mastery.
What I’m watching
Ok, I’m guilty. I spent some time binging on Netflix this week.
Before you judge me, understand that I’m only human. Netflix and Marvel released the Iron Fist series a few months back and I’ve been far too busy to tune in. This is pretty abnormal for me. I usually set aside the first night to plow through as many as I can.
He is by far one of my favorite characters and it has been a painstaking denial of my joy not being able to see it.
Things that are keeping me busy
This past Wednesday, after a few rain delays, my family and I attended a Nitro Circus event here in Winnipeg.
The adrenaline-filled event proved to be very inspiring. One of the riders, now a paraplegic, stole the show. A few years back he was performing a trick that went sour and left him with a broken back. While many would allow this to defeat them, Bruce Cook didn’t. After his rehab, he had a custom bike built that allowed him to become the first paraplegic rider to perform a backflip. And he did! Talk about goal setting and goal completion.
Here’s his story.
What I’m listening to
Tony Robbins – Lessons in Mastery.
Nothing changed from last week. If you want to check out a little bit of it, here’s a video of the fourth lesson
Best article I read online
“How Much Do You Really Understand?” – Scott Young
The entire post is about what we understand and our ability to understand what we understand. In only one word…fascinating.
Quote I’m digging
“I would say the most satisfying thing actually is watching my three children each pick up on their own interests and work many more hours per week than most people that have jobs at trying to intelligently give away that money in fields that they particularly care about.”
And there you have it. My Saturday Morning Recap all in one neat and tiny package.
‘Till next week,
